The New Mexico Public Education Department has issued new guidance for handling threats that originate on social media. Recently, schools across the nation have seen a surge in social media threats—many of which are hoaxes or pranks. Even when these threats are unfounded, they can still lead to widespread fear, the cancellation of events, and a strain on resources. We urge everyone to be vigilant online and report any suspicious activity to authorities. Let's work together to keep our schools safe and protect our community's well-being.

What students do both inside and outside of the classroom impacts their educational success. When students participate in activities outside the classroom, such as clubs, sports or school events, they develop a sense of belonging and community. Check out this week's SFPS Bulletin at https://conta.cc/3X6DVUb and the perspective of Lucas Robbins, a senior at Mandela International Magnet School and student member of the SFPS Board of Education, as he discusses student engagement!

Mr. Pacheco took his students to the Bradbury Science Museum where they learned about the Manhattan Project. More specifically, they learned the different ways of getting messages across without the message getting into the wrong hands. The kids got to work on cracking a code with an enigma, played battleship using Morse Code and explored all the museum had to offer. They ate lunch at the park and then ended the trip at the Los Alamos History Museum.

Milagro held its first 8th Grade Sports Awards Banquet to honor all the amazing athletes who have represented Milagro with class during their time in Middle School. Ms. Greig (our Assistant Principal and Athletic Director) handed out the top awards. Did you know that 70 8th graders participated in our program this year, WOW! She also thanked our wonderful coaches - Ed Romero, Damon Laemmle, Steve Anaya, Tammy Anaya, Marissa Koroneos, Mary Trujillo, Nanci Pretzer, and Jorge Villegas for all the contributions they have made to Milagro sports! A big thank you to our PTO for sponsoring the event, and to Diana Padilla (Community Schools) and Georgia Baca (Principal) for all their hard work to cook and set up the cafeteria. All the best to our 8th grade athletes as they move into high school - we are so proud of you all!
